Letter from R.D. Ward in Louisville to his brother Joseph D. Ward in Washington, D.C. Ward writes his brother regarding his recent attempts to aid him in attaining a government position in Washington on account of his service in the Mexican War. Also included is a copy of a letter by Edward Stokes to U.S. Senator Garrett Duncan praising Joseph Ward's conduct and gallantry at the Battle of Buena Vista. Ward served in the 2nd Regiment of Kentucky and was "desperately wounded" at Buena Vista.
